At present, Newar (Nepal Basha) is written with a Devanagari script as the official language of Nepal, which is Nepali, is based on Devanagari. Besides Devanagari, the Newa (Prachalit Nepal) script is also used to write Newari. In the past it was written with Ranjana script, Nepal Lipi (Nepal script) and many other scripts.
